Located in Pelham, Alabama, just south of Birmingham

The 2021 Blood Rock trail races will likely be the hardest race you have ever run of a comparable distance. The 100 will have well over 52,000 feet of elevation change, the 50 mile, 27,000 ft. of change, the 55K and 25K will have9,400 ft. and 17,600 ft. respectively.  However, the elevation gain is not what makes the race so hard. It is the terrain. Our little mountain at Oak Mountain State Park is only 700 feet tall and about 10 miles long but what it lacks in size it makes up for in brutally steep, technical climbs and descents, treacherous trails and endless miles of rocks and roots. Then again, there are also some very gentle and very runnable trails. But not many!

The 2021 Blood Rock course will be the same as the 2020 course with one little adjustment. There will be no out-back sections. We will remove the backcountry out-back and the powerline out-back. This will create a 34.1 mile loop. The 100 mile will be three laps of the course. The 50 Mile will be one full lap, with a repeat of the 15 mile north loop. The 55K is one lap, and the 25K is the 15 mile north loop, same as last year.
